Tasting Australia 2023!
Tasting Australia is the longest-running food and wine festival held in South Australia every year.
It showcases the top food, beverage, producers and chefs from the region, who travel across the country and overseas to celebrate the best cuisines Australia has to offer.
Our Co-Owner Darren Robertson was Co-Festival Director alongside Karena Armstrong.
This year, Head Chef and Co-Owner Mark LaBrooy, and Byron chef Jono Lim spent 5 days on Kangaroo Island, through rail, hail and high winds, Marky dug a pit and cooked over coals. The only weather they didn’t seem to cop was snow! Some of his dishes included an Adelaide Hills venison deer skewer, pickled sardines with campfire bread and confit garlic and a Gochujang satay along with teriyaki glazed abalone on a homemade yakitori.
Darren cooked at The Chef’s Table event in Adelaide Town Square, alongside Sydney’s Big Sam Young. Whipping up local venison, abalone, smoked potato ice-cream and gin and juice marshmallows; with a little help from Byron Bay produce chef, James O’Connor.
Over 10 days, 130 events were sold out, and this year’s Town Square set a new record at 68,000 visitors over the duration of the festival.
This year’s Tasting Australia Food & Wine Festival was a huge success, we are stoked to see what next year has for us!
